Grimbarians - Single

Ash Taylor

Ash Taylor moved to Cleethorpes when he was 10 years old, spending his childhood here and getting his first experience of radio.

In 2007, Ash joined Compass FM, the local radio station for Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham, to help with the production of the Saturday Sports Show. It wasn’t long before he was presenting on the station and moving around the Lincs FM group.

Now, Ashley is a Studio Director with BBC News. He directs sequence news radio programmes across Radio 4, World Service and 5Live, and works with other stations including Radio 1 and Asian Network, as well as BBC News at 6 and BBC News at 10.

When asked about growing up in the Grimsby area, Ash says: “It massively influenced what I do now, I was first exposed to radio through school. I was lucky to find lots of opportunities around Cleethorpes and Grimsby DJing, and eventually working with Compass FM. I thoroughly loved my time with them, broadcasting to the local area that I grew up in and going out meeting the listeners, attending local events, etc. It’s a time I cherish and that I’m very grateful for. Those years gave me the knowledge and experience to move on to what I do now.”
