Mick Fowler

With over 25 years of service, Mick Fowler is a cornerstone of the RNLI team. His journey began when the current station first opened its doors and launched a call for volunteers—a call Mick, then a boat owner and fisherman, was quick to answer. Drawn by a love of the sea, he immersed himself in RNLI training and never looked back.

Over the decades, Mick’s commitment and skill have seen him rise through the ranks to become a Deputy Launch Authority (DLA), a vital role that involves making the critical decision to launch the lifeboat during an emergency. It’s a responsibility he takes seriously, knowing that lives often hang in the balance.

Among the many rescues he’s been part of, one stands out: helping to bring 30 people to safety during a charity raft race that went wrong off Cleethorpes beach. It’s moments like these that underscore his deep commitment to the community he serves.

Respected by his peers for his calm leadership and unwavering dedication, Mick is known as both a steady hand in a crisis and a compassionate figure within the station. Whether he's guiding new recruits or making tough calls under pressure, his focus remains the same: to protect lives at sea and support the team around him.
