One Of Our Own - Single

Kristine Green

Kristine’s not just a die-hard supporter of Grimsby Town, she also holds a number of prestigious

roles at the club. She’s the Chair of the Mariners Trust, the Supporter Liaison Officer and, since the

summer, a member of the Grimsby Town board.

Kristine is passionate about fan engagement and over the years she’s been heavily involved in many initiatives and projects which have improved the club’s connection with the fans. She was a vocal critic of the way our female supporters were victimised by stewards at Stevenage and, more recently, she was behind the Mariners Trust’s purchase of five new defibrillators for the club.

Kristine has been coming to Blundell Park for over 30 years and now sits in the Pontoon with her two children and friends. She started coming to games because of her Town-supporting uncle back in the early 90s, after Alan Buckley had taken the Mariners from the fourth to the second division in consecutive years. Although she can’t actually remember what her first game was, she was at the game against Sunderland at Blundell Park which got called off after ten minutes because of torrential weather. Over the years, Kristine has amassed a whole collection of special memories at Blundell Park but the main ones are the night we beat Kevin Keegan’s Fulham in the second leg of the play-offs and when we beat Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.

Like everyone else, not being able to attend games for 18 months left a big void in Kristine’s life, but the things she missed most were the chat before games, the drive to away games and the post match analysis on the way home.

To her, football will always be much more than the 90 minutes that happen on the pitch.

"But there's none to compare with my Grimsby"

One Of Our Own is a collaboration between Grimbarians and GTFC to celebrate and shine a light on the unseen heroes that make the club tick.
