Recap: Grimbarians Preview Night
Back in January 2018, when we first launched Grimbarians, we knew it would only be a matter of time before we held our first public previews of the project’s portraits. As the months passed, more and more recommendations were coming in to us, and our Facebook and Instagram posts were being shared so many times amongst the community. As the end of our first year approached, we wanted to say thank you.
So, in November, the people of Grimsby were able to get up close and personal with the portraits of our Grimbarians for the very first time.
Over two nights, supporters of the project and some of our featured Grimbarians ventured to Docks Beers for the Grimbarians Preview Evenings.
Will and Shaz, the Founders of Docks Beers, were very kind in opening the taproom for us, so our guests could view a selection of the portraits in amongst the bar and brewing areas with a refreshing pint. The Lincolnshire Chef Steven Bennett and Charlotte Hay of Healing Manor provided a table of beautiful, tasty canapes, and our friends at Comley Cameras did an excellent job of printing our portraits.
It was wonderful to see so many people taking in the photographs, talking with the likes of Paul Garnett, Charlotte Bowen, Ian Macdonald, Garry Bainbridge, Mike Cartwright, and Christine Plant who had all volunteered their time to take part in the project. Mark Webb, one of our earliest featured Grimbarians and the Managing Director of e-factor, said a few very kind words to introduce the creator of Grimbarians, Dan.
We were completely overwhelmed by just how many people turned up to show their support – so much so, that Docks Beers offered to display our portraits for the rest of the week! You can read all about it on the Humber Business website.
Now, the Grimbarians team are working away behind the scenes ready for our first exhibition. Look out for an announcement coming soon…
