The Grimbarians Blog

Apr 22, 2019 | Blog

Hi everyone, and welcome to the brand new blog from Grimbarians.

Since 1st January 2018, we’ve been sharing the portraits and stories of people from Grimsby, and have been completely overwhelmed by the response and support we’ve received so far – thank you, everyone.

Over the past few months, we have been thinking of ways to keep you all up-to-date not only with the project (we have some very exciting announcements to make!), but with the news and progress of our featured Grimbarians too. So, the time has come to introduce the Grimbarians Blog.

In this space, we’ll be sharing all kinds of updates, from guest posts from our Grimbarians, history pieces and event coverage, to project news and good stories from around the area.

To start, take a few moments to learn a little more about the project and how to get involved…

What is Grimbarians all about?

Grimbarians is a photo-documentary project created by Grimsby-born photographer Dan Clarke. Our aim is to tell the stories of the great, fascinating people who were born in the area, or have moved here and made a positive change to the community in their own way. We want to show that Grimsby Really Is More – #wearegrim.

Who are the Grimbarians?

Our featured Grimbarians are the people who have played a part in raising the town’s profile and morale. They may be community leaders, sports people, artists, business people, teachers, or public figures. Since starting the project, we’ve had the pleasure of speaking to a world-record-setting swimmer, a weather presenter, the founders of Grimsby’ first brewery for 50 years, and a comedian, to name just a few.

How can I recommend a Grimbarian?

We are always looking for recommendations for future Grimbarians. If you know of any inspiring people, please send us a message and tell us a little bit about who they are, what they do, and how to get in touch with them.

Can businesses get involved?

Absolutely. We are working very hard on Grimbarians’ next steps, so to keep the project moving forward we are looking for sponsorship support from businesses. We have opportunities for portrait sponsors, blog sponsors, event sponsors, and project sponsors; send us an email with your enquiry and we’ll arrange a chat and get some more details over to you.

So, what’s next?

Look out for the details for our very first exhibition coming to Grimsby very soon…
